VICTORIA, Seychelles — Ambassador of China to Seychelles Lin Nan has highlighted the establishment of a seasonal direct flight between China and Seychelles as a major milestone in bilateral relations, achieved with the joint support of both sides, particularly Sichuan province. Speaking during a courtesy call on President Wavel Ramkalawan by a high-level Sichuan delegation at State House, Madam Lin said the new air link promises to boost tourism and trade.
She noted that a highlight of President Ramkalawan’s China tour last September was his visit to Sichuan province, where he met with the provincial party secretary. The current visit by the Sichuan delegation is a fulfillment of the promise made during that prior meeting. ‘Both nations are actively exploring new avenues of cooperation in tourism, transport and trade. Traditional areas of collaboration such as education, healthcare and maritime security will also continue to be maintained and strengthened,’ she added.
Ambassador Lin Nan also pointed to recent tangible achievements this year, including China’s donation of a patrol boat and the handover of the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) house. ‘We desire to work closely with Seychellois friends to further promote our relationship,’ she concluded.
