Taniah Wins Wave Dance International Song Competition with ‘Where We Belong’
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Tania Jérémie, known by her stage name Taniah, has been declared the winner of the Wave Dance International Song Competition organised by The Danny Faure Foundation, with her song titled ‘Where We Belong’. The announcement was made by the head of the jury, Patrick Victor, in a video posted on the foundation’s website. The global competition invited artists to compose a signature song for the Wave Dance initiative, a major project aimed at raising awareness of ocean conservation through the arts.
An esteemed international panel of judges, representing different regions of the world, was tasked with evaluating the entries and finalising their deliberations by May 30, 2025. The jury consisted of Gramps Morgan (Americas and the Caribbean), Solo Solomona Aveau (Pacific), Eunice Tong (Asia), Natalie Nqobile Monin (Africa), Gérard Louis (Indian Ocean) and Simone Arafa (Europe). Submissions were judged on various criteria including vocal, lyrics, musical arrangement, and whether the song reflected the theme.
Taniah will be awarded a cash prize of US$5,000, sponsored by African Mosaique, a trophy sponsored by The Danny Faure Foundation, and an official certificate of recognition. She will receive her award during the official launch of the first Seychelles Wave Dance, scheduled to take place on July 27, 2025. In a social media post, The Danny Faure Foundation said it passionately believed that, whether through music or dance, “art transcends barriers and unites us all in a shared commitment to protecting our oceans”. “By engaging minds through creativity, our mission is to create a wave of change,” it added.
