VICTORIA, Seychelles — Travellers on the Bel Air route witnessed a vibrant explosion of creativity and community spirit on Saturday as the Bel Air district was transformed into a live art gallery, with 10 talented artists bringing their masterpieces to life across the bus stops in the area. The exciting public art initiative gave visitors the unique opportunity to watch artists paint live, turning everyday spaces into dynamic expressions of culture and colour.
In addition to the featured artists, students from the Seychelles Institute of Art and Design (SIAD) also joined in the initiative, painting selected bus stops and gaining hands-on experience in public artmaking. The event was sponsored by Pascual Seychelles, which offered free product samples at the Vines Bus Stop, Victoria, where passers-by had the chance to taste Pascual products while celebrating the artistic transformation of Bel Air. “At Pascual, we believe in promoting health, well-being, and the power of creativity. This event is an exciting way to bring the community together and showcase the incredible talents of local artists,” said Pablo Arias Pereira, the company country manager.
The Bel Air district administrator, Sylvie Ah-Time, said she hoped the bus stops would not only serve the community in their daily commute but also become a tourist attraction. “We encourage residents of Bel Air, members of the public, and foreign visitors to take pictures and promote these artists’ creative works on any media platforms. We want our bus stops and the Bel Air district to trend in a positive way and showcase the amazing work done by Seychellois,” she said. The district administrator added that she hoped the initiative would inspire more public art in the future.
