VICTORIA, Seychelles — Ten young Seychellois entrepreneurs received their cheques from the Youth Entrepreneurship Promotion Programme (PPEJ) under the Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers of the Francophonie (CONFEJES) for the 2024 edition. The programme is run in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sports and the National Youth Council.

The recipients are Brandon Jude Sedwick, Vicky Durand, Tania Jeremie, Francisca Rose, Krystie Sifflore, Michel Rudy, Alison Hoareau, Raymonde D’Unienville Chette-Path, Thomas Kimberly and Gauthami Chetty. The cheques range from R46,000 to R51,000, with more than R500,000 distributed in total. The projects cover a wide range of activities, including a musical instrument repair shop, environmental protection (particularly the sea), a sewing service on La Digue, locally-made jewellery, vegetarian food, school holiday programmes, a music studio and other ventures.

The initiative aims to encourage young people to develop their own business ideas and to support the growth of small enterprises across the country, contributing to economic diversification and youth employment.
