President Ramkalawan Welcomes National Defense University Capstone Delegation at State House
VICTORIA, Seychelles — A delegation from the National Defense University (NDU) capstone project, under the leadership of retired senior fellow General Thomas Waldhauser, met with President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House on Friday morning. The delegation was accompanied by US charge d’affaires in Seychelles, Adam Louft, and the US senior defense official and defense attache for Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles, Commander Jeffrey Schwamb.
As part of their training, newly promoted one-star generals, admirals and senior executive service members in the United States military are required to participate in a capstone project that offers them global policy exposure. This year, participants visited Chad, Seychelles and Tunisia. The discussions with President Ramkalawan centred on ways the US and Seychelles can reinforce and strengthen their partnerships in the military sector.
The visit underscores the depth of bilateral defence cooperation between Seychelles and the United States, and reflects the strategic importance Seychelles holds in the western Indian Ocean region.
