Three MoUs Signed Between SBSA, Guy Morel Institute and Air Seychelles
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Business Studies Academy, the Guy Morel Institute and Air Seychelles gathered at L’Escale Resort Marina and Spa, Roche Caïman, on Tuesday morning to sign three memoranda of understanding. The signing is a follow-up to an initial agreement signed in 2019, and the updated version is intended to ease the professional development of staff and learners, provide input into programme development, and arrange work-based experience, among other things. The ceremony was attended by the organisations’ board members and senior executives.
The first signing was between the SBSA and Air Seychelles, with the former being represented by board vice-chairman Jean Raguin and the latter by chief executive Sandy Benoiton. The second signing, a new agreement, was between the Guy Morel Institute (TGMI) and Air Seychelles, and it relates to mutual support and staff professional development. It was signed by TGMI board chairman Conrad Lablache and Mr Benoiton. The final MoU was between TGMI and SBSA, and its main aim is to enable the two institutions to work collaboratively and to share ideas and resources.
The TGMI and SBSA agreement is also intended to enable graduates of the Diploma in Accounting to transition successfully to TGMI under the scholarship scheme to follow ACCA programmes. The document was signed by Mr Lablache and Mr Raguin, both of whom described the occasion as exciting and beneficial to all three partners. Together we can work towards greater heights, said Mr Raguin, while Mr Lablache noted that the agreement was a long time in the making.
Speaking on behalf of Air Seychelles, Mr Benoiton expressed his great delight at the cooperation with the two institutes. One partnership, with SBSA, has been ongoing for a while, while the other, with TGMI, is new. This discussion was done since last year and today we finally bear witness to the signing of the MoU, which will help us in our future endeavour, said the Air Seychelles chief executive. The agreements are valid for three years, although all parties have agreed that they want the partnership to be a continuous one.
For their respective institutions, the practical impact of the MoUs is likely to be felt in the coming months as joint activities begin. Air Seychelles is expected to provide internship placements for SBSA students, while TGMI will work with both institutions on continuing professional development courses for Air Seychelles staff. The SBSA and TGMI are also expected to launch a joint accounting pathway later in the year, which will allow students to move from one institution to the other without losing credit for work already completed. Further announcements on the partnership are expected later in 2024.
