Seychelles Signs MOU with China Shenyang Corporation for Affordable Steel Housing
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles government has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Shenyang Corporation to explore steel frame construction for affordable housing in Seychelles, in line with national plans to expand the supply of quality homes. The agreement was signed by principal secretary for Housing Jude Florentine and the general manager for China Shenyang Corporation, Li Jianpeng, at the minister’s conference room, Independence House, in the presence of Minister Billy Rangasamy.
The partnership is expected to bring steel frame construction technologies that can deliver cost-effective and time-efficient housing solutions without compromising on quality. Minister Rangasamy said the initiative forms part of ongoing work by the Ministry of Housing, conducted through the Seychelles Infrastructure Agency (SIA), to modernise construction methods and accelerate delivery.
Officials said the collaboration could provide a much-needed boost to affordable housing in Seychelles, particularly as the country seeks to respond to sustained demand for accessible homes. Both parties agreed to follow up on the MOU with technical exchanges and pilot projects in the coming months.
