VICTORIA, Seychelles — Major General Jean de Monicault, the French Commander Superior of the Armed Forces of the Southern Indian Ocean Zone (COMSUP FAZSOI), paid an official and fruitful visit to Seychelles this week, marking a significant step in strengthening defence and security cooperation between France and Seychelles.
On Tuesday December 2, General de Monicault met with Brigadier General Michael Rosette, Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), at the SDF headquarters at Bel Eau. Discussions focused on intensifying joint operational cooperation, particularly in the essential domain of the fight against drug trafficking at sea.
Both sides noted the importance of their long-standing partnership and the shared responsibility of safeguarding the waters of the western Indian Ocean. The visit reaffirmed France’s role as a key strategic partner for Seychelles in maritime security and counter-narcotics operations.
