Minister Desaubin Tours Key Business Projects on Praslin

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Minister for Industry and Enterprise, Geralda Desaubin, has said that the government will continue with the ongoing business projects on Praslin initiated by the former administration, while it works to assess new applications, including those that have already been submitted for approval. Minister Desaubin made the comment on Friday after conducting a familiarisation visit to various business-related projects on the island that fall under her ministry.

The visit provided her with an opportunity to see what has been accomplished so far, the progression of the ongoing projects, and the concerns and challenges that still need to be addressed. She was accompanied by the elected member for Grand Anse Praslin, Hon. Alvin Grancourt; the elected member for Baie St Anne Praslin, Hon. Churchill Gill; the proportionately elected member for Grand Anse Praslin, Wavel Woodcock; the Baie St Anne district administrator, Berty Cedras; and representatives from the Industrial Estates Authority and the Enterprise Seychelles Agency.

The visit started at a site at Amitié where the proposed development project will include artisanal kiosks, food and beverage kiosks, a children’s play area, a stage for cultural shows, an art gallery, a café and restaurant, a beach bar, a car park, and toilet and shower facilities. Minister Desaubin was then taken to another site at Grand Anse, where a Micro Enterprise Centre is being constructed next to the Grand Anse Praslin primary school. The ground-floor building, designed with the possibility of future vertical extension, will provide 15 spaces for light food processing, manufacturing, sewing workshops, artisan workshops, painting and sculpture, office work, and an electronics workshop. The next stop was on Eve Island, the industrial zone on Praslin, and the visit ended at Cap Samy in Baie Ste Anne, where plans are underway for the construction of kiosks along the beachfront.
