President-Elect Herminie Pledges to Work with the People of Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President-elect Dr Patrick Herminie has said that, during the transition, his United Seychelles party is putting in place its working systems, forming its council of ministers and finalising the government structure.

He made the comments on Wednesday morning at his first major press conference since being elected, held at the party’s headquarters, the Maison Du Peuple, in the presence of his vice-president, Sebastien Pillay.

Dr Herminie thanked the Seychellois people for what he described as a clear mandate and said the new administration would prioritise stability, economic recovery and unity. He emphasised that the transition would be conducted in a transparent and orderly manner, in close collaboration with the outgoing government and the Electoral Commission.

The president-elect also paid tribute to the resilience of Seychellois voters, who turned out in large numbers to make their choice at the ballot box. He said his administration would be open, accessible and focused on delivering tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens, starting from the day of his inauguration.
