APFSC Marks First Anniversary of Seychelles-China Friendship Initiative

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Association for the Promotion of Friendship between Seychelles and China (APFSC), relaunched in June 2024, is marking one year of cultural, educational and economic engagement between citizens of the two nations.
Membership of the association is open to all Seychellois — particularly those who plan to visit China, trade with China, or are simply interested in Chinese culture. In its first year, the APFSC organised a workshop in September 2024 to mark the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, attended official visits in 2024 and 2025, and celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with a dumpling-making demonstration on June 7, 2025.
The APFSC has also facilitated Seychellois participation in international forums, including the 10th Nishan Forum on World Civilisations in Shandong in July 2024, and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The association is committed to promoting people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation, with a focus on education, tourism and cultural diplomacy.
Plans for the coming year include a wider programme of events, including cultural performances, language classes and business networking opportunities. The APFSC said the achievements of the past year would not have been possible without the goodwill of the people of both nations and the support of the embassy of the People’s Republic of China.
