Seychelles Declares Public Holiday on Saturday for General Elections

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The government has declared Saturday, September 27, 2025, a public holiday to allow citizens to take part in the main polling day of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
President Wavel Ramkalawan issued the declaration in view of the general elections taking place on the day, enabling the public to exercise their civic duty without inconvenience. The Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) has been working with relevant authorities to ensure that all polling stations are well staffed and equipped for the main voting day.
Essential services, including health facilities, the police and the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency, will remain operational throughout the public holiday. Other public offices will be closed for the day.
The ECS has reminded voters to check their assigned polling station on the official voters register, to bring valid identification, and to take advantage of the long weekend to cast their ballot on the main polling day. The next issue of the national newspaper will be published on Monday, September 29, 2025.
