Government Strengthens Cybersecurity Framework to Protect Key Sectors
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The government of Seychelles is stepping up its national cybersecurity framework, with new measures expected to extend beyond the police service to multiple sectors including airports, commercial banks and the energy network.
Officials have noted that the country’s growing reliance on digital services has made it essential to strengthen investigative tools for law enforcement, as well as to build capacity across the wider public service. The new unit being established will sit at a level higher than the police, with a mandate to coordinate responses to attacks alongside the police and other authorities.
The cybersecurity effort covers a broad range of sectors, from policing and law enforcement to healthcare, education and business. By strengthening both its domestic framework and its international partnerships, the government hopes to protect citizens, institutions and the wider economy from the growing risks of cybercrime.
Authorities have said the initiative forms part of a broader national security strategy. Awareness campaigns are expected to be rolled out in the coming months to help the public and businesses better protect themselves online.
