Dr Herminie Refutes Claim He Produced Qatar Health Facility Video

VICTORIA, Seychelles — United Seychelles party leader, Dr Patrick Herminie, has refuted claims made on Wednesday by the Office of the President that he disseminated a video on social media regarding the health facility donated by the Qatari government located at the Seychelles Coast Guard base. On Wednesday, the Office of the President accused Dr Herminie of spreading ‘misleading and false information’ in reference to a 49-second video showing broken equipment and items such as beds and tents among others, outside the facility.

In a short interview yesterday, Mr Herminie said he was not the one who produced the video that went viral on social media. According to him it had already been posted in several popular groups prior to him getting his hands on it. ‘It was also being circulated on WhatsApp and I posted it on my wall. It was not my fabrication. Maybe what I did was share something that was not entirely true,’ explained the party leader.

Dr Herminie said following the press release, he carried out his own investigation into the matter and found out that the tents in questions were the 35 donated to Seychelles back in 2020. ‘They were being kept at the old laundry at the Seychelles Hospital and were thrown out by GICC, which took over the place and turned it into their office. All the tents could no longer be used as they were old,’ he added. The exchange between the Office of the President and the opposition leader is the latest in a series of political confrontations as the country approaches a critical electoral period.
