President Ramkalawan Honours Long-Serving Health Professionals
VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday welcomed 28 long-serving health professionals from the Ministry of Health at State House for a special meeting. It was a moment for the President to express his gratitude to the staff, including those who have already retired, for their invaluable contributions to society. The visit offered an opportunity to acknowledge decades of service to the Seychellois people.
When welcoming his guests, President Ramkalawan shared that he still remembers many of the health professionals and is pleased to see that some are still serving the community, while others, despite being retired, continue to contribute to healthcare. The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Office of the President to recognise public servants who have dedicated significant portions of their careers to the country.
Health professionals from across the country, including doctors, nurses, allied health workers, and administrative staff, were among those present. The recognition comes at a time when the Ministry of Health is working to strengthen its workforce and address long-standing challenges in service delivery, particularly in maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases, and primary care. The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting health workers through training, improved working conditions, and continued investment in the sector.
