Eswatini’s Mlondi Solomon Dlamini Accredited as New High Commissioner to Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The high commissioner of the Kingdom of Eswatini to the Republic of Seychelles, Mlondi Solomon Dlamini, presented his credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House yesterday. The newly accredited high commissioner also met with Vice-President Ahmed-Afif; Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde; Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Flavien Joubert; the dean of the diplomatic corps, Alessandra Fracesca Azais; and the secretary general of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), Iouana Pillay.

Mr Dlamini said the topics of discussions varied on many fronts, such as areas of cooperation that the two countries could bring to the forefront. He noted that Seychelles is a good marketable country and excels in tourism, therefore Eswatini is keen to learn in that respect. “We are member states of various bodies, and as brotherly states, we are looking at issues of common interests. Cultural exchanges to learn best practises is also something that was discussed,” he said.

Currently, the two countries have a standing cooperation agreement which dates back to 2011, and Mr Dlamini noted that there is plan to revive it, and engage earnestly. The Kingdom of Eswatini and Seychelles established diplomatic relations in March 2002. Mr Dlamini will be based in Maputo, Mozambique.
