Seychelles and Russia Sign Agreement to Deepen Cultural and Artistic Ties

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Seychelles and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fields of culture, heritage, and the arts, further deepening cultural ties between the two nations. The Seychelles-Russia culture MoU was signed by Minister Amanda Bernstein and Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova, establishing a framework for closer cooperation between the two countries.

Through this partnership, Seychellois artists, cultural practitioners, and institutions are expected to benefit from increased opportunities to participate in joint cultural activities, including exhibitions, performances, seminars, and festivals. The agreement further supports cooperation between cultural institutions in areas such as museums, archives, heritage preservation, cultural education, and the documentation and safeguarding of cultural assets.

The MoU will also open pathways for greater international exposure of local talent and the strengthening of cultural networks. This exchange of expertise is expected to contribute positively to the continued growth and strengthening of Seychelles’ cultural sector. In addition, the agreement encourages engagement in international cultural platforms, including film and creative industry events, further enhancing opportunities for cultural exchange and visibility.

The signing took place alongside President Herminie’s official visit to Moscow, representing a comprehensive approach to bilateral engagement that spans political, economic, and cultural dimensions. The agreement reflects the commitment of both countries to deepening cultural ties and fostering collaboration that promotes mutual understanding, creativity, and cultural appreciation.

This cultural MoU follows a separate agreement signed between Seychelles and the Russian Academy of Sciences on heritage preservation and archaeology, demonstrating the breadth of cultural cooperation being developed between the two nations. Both agreements are expected to create lasting frameworks for collaboration that will benefit Seychellois artists, researchers, and cultural practitioners for years to come.

The Seychelles-Russia cultural agreement marks a new chapter in bilateral artistic and heritage cooperation.
