Minister Faure and High Commissioner Manzini highlight opportunities for economic and tourism cooperation

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, received the High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Dr. Hlamalani Manzini at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Friday, 23 January 2026.

The two diplomats touched on the bilateral meeting between South African President H.E. Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa and President Patrick Herminie, in Abu Dhabi, on the margins of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which they described as very productive.

The discussions were primarily centered around Seychelles and South Africa’s relationship within the South African Development Community (SADC) as member countries where they touched on the Maritime Corridor Strategy which would support regional economic integration. Trade was another topic which was given much importance during the meeting with Minister Faure expressing interest in finding ways to promote trade between the two countries.

Minister Faure wishes that Seychelles and South Africa strengthen economic collaboration, with a focus on increasing tourist arrivals.
