VICTORIA, Seychelles — Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands Eveline Rose has commended district administrators for their tireless efforts in serving communities and implementing projects that directly improve the quality of life of residents, while outlining the ministry’s priorities for 2026. The minister was speaking at the end-of-year award ceremony at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort and Casino.
‘We are moving in a new year 2026 and it would present its share of challenges, but our ministry’s collective determination is to meet them head-on and deliver results of the highest standard,’ said the minister. ‘I call upon all staff to remain disciplined, focused, and hardworking in your efforts to enhance the lives of citizens across all communities, ensuring that residents feel pride and satisfaction in the services provided to them.’
Vicky Van Der Westhuizen, principal secretary for Local Government and Community Services, said the team toured all 26 districts to familiarise themselves with ongoing projects. ‘With the new administration, we want communities to actively engage in the development of their districts in order to improve the quality of life of the people. We also aim to advance projects in the districts, and all projects that were allocated budgets and initiated last year will continue.’
