State House Hosts Annual Christmas Celebration for 60 Children in Care
VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Patrick Herminie, accompanied by First Lady Véronique Herminie and their daughter Dr Vanessa Herminie, on Tuesday hosted the annual State House Christmas celebration for children from care homes across the country. The traditional event, held each year, spreads festive cheer while reaffirming the nation’s commitment to unity, compassion, and the well-being of its most vulnerable children during the Christmas season.
Over 60 children from institutions including President’s Village, Foyer de la Solidarité, Foyer de Nazareth, and Foyer de la Providence attended, accompanied by their home mothers and caregivers whose dedication plays a vital role in nurturing and safeguarding them. Vice-President Sebastien Pillay and his family were also present.
The programme featured creative and craft activities, followed by a festive dinner in the Gran Kaz Hall. The evening included Christmas carols performed by youth from the Seychelles National Youth Council, and each child received a special gift from Santa. As a token of appreciation, the children presented President Herminie with a tableau created using their fingerprints.
