Sri Lankan President Thanks Seychelles for Solidarity After Cyclone Ditwah

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has publicly expressed his gratitude to Seychelles’ Head of State, Dr Patrick Herminie, for his thoughtful message of solidarity amid recent severe weather events that affected the country.

The flooding caused widespread damage across Sri Lanka, displacing families and disrupting essential services. In response, Sri Lanka launched extensive search and rescue operations, supported by international partners, to assist affected communities.

President Dissanayake, in his message, highlighted the importance of regional solidarity, stating that with the gracious support of international partners, his country has begun the process of rebuilding through the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, and expressed gratitude for Seychelles’ solidarity during this critical period.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the exchange of messages reflects the strong and growing ties between Seychelles and Sri Lanka, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting friendly nations in times of need.
