President Herminie Outlines Vision for Strengthened National Assembly

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Patrick Herminie has outlined his vision for a strengthened National Assembly, in remarks delivered to members of the Assembly. Speaking as a former Speaker of the Assembly, a position he held with distinction, President Herminie thanked members for their continued support and underlined the importance of robust parliamentary work for the country’s democratic life.

The President noted that the National Assembly plays a central role in representing the people, in scrutinising legislation, and in holding the government to account. He said the Executive will work closely with the Assembly to ensure that legislation responds to the needs of citizens and that the country’s institutions continue to function effectively.

President Herminie reaffirmed his commitment to respecting the separation of powers, to engaging constructively with members across the political spectrum, and to strengthening the capacity of the Assembly. He said the government will intensify its engagement with the National Assembly in the second half of the year, in pursuit of a shared national agenda.
