SIT Donates R5,000 to Cancer Concern Association for Pink October Campaign

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Cancer Concern Association (CCA) has received yet another generous contribution of R5,000 from the Seychelles Institute of Technology (SIT). The donation was graciously accepted by the chairperson of the CCA, Dinaz Van Der Lans, during a ceremony held at the SIT campus on Tuesday.

As is customary every October, the CCA makes a concerted effort to honour cancer patients, inviting individuals and institutions to extend special gestures in support of their cause. SIT stands out as one of the many steadfast partners that consistently contribute through annual donations. The school community at SIT once again rallied behind the cause as part of the global Pink October breast cancer awareness campaign.

Mrs Van Der Lans expressed the association’s deep gratitude for SIT’s generous gesture. ‘Throughout the year, we continuously provide financial assistance to cancer patients in need within the Seychelles, and we are truly delighted to witness our partners readily stepping forward to support us when we require new donations. Whether it is for travel or treatment, we at Cancer Concern strive to provide these patients with the financial support they need, such as pocket money for travel; one less concern for them,’ she stated.

SIT director Ferdinand Desnousse also expressed appreciation to the CCA for their collaboration. ‘Our school community united to raise funds in support of breast cancer awareness and care. We were all thrilled to don our pink outfits. Today, we take pride in presenting the donation to the CCA, as a testament to our shared compassion and dedication,’ he remarked. The CCA continues to encourage the public to remain vigilant about their health and the implications of cancer, also emphasising that individuals should not hesitate to extend their support to the cause.
