Four More Ministers Approved Bringing Total to Eight in New Government

VICTORIA, Seychelles — An additional four nominees for the post of ministers in the newly-elected government were approved by the National Assembly on Friday October 31, 2025, bringing the total to eight out of fourteen confirmed to date. They are David Pierre, Marvin Fanny, Wallace Cosgrow, and Marie-May Jeremie.

Similar to Thursday’s sitting, the motions for their appointment were tabled by the leader of government business, Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel, and seconded by Hon. Churchill Gill of the United Seychelles (US) party. The first to be called into the chamber was Ambassador David Pierre, who was questioned for an hour by US members only, on topics ranging from his professional journey through education, foreign affairs, and politics.

Mr Pierre, who described himself as a ‘performance-oriented’ individual, made reference to the US manifesto, which he said was detailed and outlined each minister’s role during their five-year tenure. ‘One thing I will do when I take on my new role is to introduce the four Ps of governance namely purpose, people, process and performance. We have a purpose, and we must inspire our staff to understand this and to be part of it,’ he explained.

Dr Marvin Fanny and Mr Wallace Cosgrow also appeared before the Assembly, presenting their professional credentials and visions for the portfolios they will lead. Mrs Marie-May Jeremie completed the quartet of approvals. With eight ministers now confirmed, the National Assembly is expected to consider the remaining six nominees in the coming days, completing the cabinet formation process under the new Herminie administration.
