National Assembly Reviews President Herminie’s 13 Cabinet Nominees

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The National Assembly of Seychelles reconvened on Thursday for its second session to review and deliberate on the proposed nominations for the country’s cabinet of ministers. The proposed list of 13 nominees was submitted to the National Assembly for approval on October 28, 2025, by President Patrick Herminie, marking a key step in the formation of the new government following the presidential election.

The approval of the nominees as ministers will come in the form of 13 motions to be put forward by the leader of government business in the National Assembly, Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel. The motions for approval are in accordance with Articles 63(1) and 69(2) of the Constitution. The proposed list of cabinet ministers includes: Pierre Frank Patrick Joubert, Geralda Dora Desaubin, Barry Jude Jean Faure, Idith Sharon Alexander, David Claude Pierre, Marvin Nola Fanny, Wallace Jude Keith Cosgrow, Marie-May Alice Jeremie, Veronique Bernadette Laporte, Pamela Clorida Charlette, Eveline Erika Cecile Rose, Kalsey Julia Jacqueline Vijay Belle, and James Conrad Jean Camille.

The deliberation is expected to continue until Monday November 3, and the final composition of the cabinet will be officially announced upon completion of the parliamentary approval process. The new ministers, once approved, will join the new administration under President Herminie and Vice President Sebastien Pillay, who were sworn in earlier this week following the transition of power. The new line-up reflects a balance of experienced public servants and fresh faces, with strong representation across key sectors such as finance, education, health, and tourism.

Once approved, the Assembly’s endorsement will give President Herminie his full cabinet to lead the country for the next five years. The government’s priorities are expected to be outlined in the upcoming State of the Nation Address scheduled for later in November, which will set out the legislative and policy agenda for the new term.
