Discover Airlines Operates Inaugural Direct Flight to Seychelles from Frankfurt

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Discover Airlines, a German leisure carrier under the Lufthansa Group, operated its first-ever direct flight from Germany to the Seychelles International Airport on Monday October 27, 2025. Following tradition, the aircraft received a warm welcome with a water cannon salute upon arrival, with the airline’s chief executive Bernd Bauer and the airline’s crew greeted by Sherin Francis, principal secretary for Tourism; David Bianchi, principal secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine; and Wallace Cosgrow, government representative and guest of honour.
Also present were Garry Albert, chief executive of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA); Colin Chang-Tave, chief executive of the Seychelles Airports Authority (SAA); and Bernadette Willemin, director general for Tourism Seychelles, along with other distinguished stakeholders. Discover Airlines provides seamless connections from Munich and Frankfurt to over 63 international destinations across 27 countries, as well as two domestic destinations in Germany. With the addition of Seychelles and Mauritius, the airline has now expanded its network to include two key destinations in the Indian Ocean.
Mr Bianchi noted that the arrival ‘is not the opening of a new route, but the introduction of a new airline serving Seychelles from Frankfurt,’ saying that it represents an expansion of choice for travellers, offering a better product, improved service quality, and increased capacity from Europe. Colin Chang-Tave, chief executive of the SAA, also spoke about the significance of the new partnership, noting that the new service embodies the collective commitment towards growth and the spirit of partnership that keeps Seychelles’ aviation industry soaring.
