Voting at Special Polling Stations for Presidential Runoff Begins Tomorrow

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Voting at special polling stations on October 9 and 10, 2025, for the presidential election runoff will be conducted in the same locations, manner and under the same procedures as per the previous presidential and National Assembly elections of September 25 and 26, the Electoral Commission Seychelles has announced.

Voters on the outer islands and those unable to reach their assigned stations on polling day will be able to cast their ballots at the special stations over the two days. The runoff pits Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) against Dr Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles, following the first round of September 25 in which no candidate secured the required 50 percent plus one vote to be declared winner.

The main polling day for the runoff is set for Saturday, October 11, when the vast majority of the country’s 77,045 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots in their respective electoral areas. The commission has urged voters to bring their voter’s card and to familiarise themselves with their designated polling station ahead of the day.

The commission has appealed to all political parties, candidates and supporters to ensure that the process remains peaceful, transparent and credible, in keeping with Seychelles’ democratic traditions.
