Campaigning Officially Ends Ahead of Seychelles General Elections
VICTORIA, Seychelles — As Seychelles prepares to head to the polls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, campaigning for the general elections has officially come to an end.
According to the Elections Act, all campaign activities must stop 24 hours before voting begins, a rule that the Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) and the Department of Land Transport have both reminded parties and candidates to respect. Polling starts at 7am on Thursday, September 25, 2025, meaning the official campaign period ended at midnight on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
The ECS and the police have urged supporters, candidates and party agents to observe the silence period and to allow voters to make their decision free from any campaigning pressure. Mobile campaign units and loudspeakers are expected to remain off the roads until after polls close on Saturday.
Voting will take place over three days, starting in the outer islands on Thursday, followed by the inner islands and Mahé on Friday and Saturday. The ECS has confirmed that 77,045 voters are registered for this election, comprising 39,792 females and 37,253 males.
