Linyon Demokratik Sesel Holds Final Rallies on Praslin and Mahe

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The ruling party Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) was active over the weekend, hosting two rallies on the two main islands of Mahé and Praslin ahead of the general election, which starts on Thursday September 25, 2025.

The first event was a rally at Marie-Jeanne Estate on Praslin, preceded by a motorcade starting from Ile Eve, going via Consolation, Grand Anse, Anse Kerlan, and back via Vallée de Mai, Baie Sainte Anne, ending at Marie-Jeanne Estate. Presidential candidate Wavel Ramkalawan addressed supporters, stressing that the majority of people are satisfied with how the LDS administration has managed the country for the past five years and was requesting another term under his leadership.

On Mahé, supporters packed Gordon Square on Sunday afternoon for over five hours of celebration as LDS ended its campaign, with speeches and musical performances. National Assembly candidates for the central regions, namely English River, Bel Air, St Louis, Mont Buxton and Perseverance, addressed the crowd alongside Mr Ramkalawan and vice-presidential candidate Ahmed Afif, who stressed the party’s manifesto ‘fer Sesel pli for e pli zoli’ and slogan ‘no turning back’.

During his half-hour address, Mr Ramkalawan emphasised why he was the best candidate for Seychelles, highlighting the country’s positive results across all sectors while outlining his administration’s plans for the economy, trade, tourism, youth, education and reducing the cost of living. ‘Let us focus on what’s good and what will move our country forward,’ he said, calling on supporters to convince undecided voters to back LDS.
