Anne Tallineau Accredited as 18th French Ambassador to Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Anne Tallineau has been accredited as the new Ambassador of the French Republic to Seychelles, presenting her letters of credence to President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House on Tuesday morning. She is the 18th ambassador accredited to the Republic of Seychelles, succeeding Olivia Berkeley-Christmann, who was accredited on October 3, 2022.

Speaking after the ceremony, Ms Tallineau said it was a solemn and warm moment, during which both sides celebrated the excellent relations between France and Seychelles. She noted areas of cooperation such as the blue economy and ocean protection, where Seychelles plays a pioneering role. ‘We wish to intensify our collaboration in these sectors, as well as in the promotion of French and the French-speaking world,’ she said, announcing that a trilingual Master’s degree will be launched at the next university intake and that scholarships are being offered in support of the French language and Kreol, including through the Alliance Française and the Festival Kreol.

On maritime security, the new ambassador said the two countries already cooperate effectively, describing it as essential for the wider region. She added that she has a strong interest in Seychellois youth, noting the active role of the Alliance Française and its support for Seychellois artists through programmes of invitations to events in France and internationally.

Born on June 15, 1967, Ms Tallineau is a long-standing figure in the cultural and international relations sectors, particularly in Franco-German cooperation. A law graduate of Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, she also studied at the Académie Carat in Paris. Her career has spanned marketing and public relations at Canal J, executive production in cinema, the Berlin International Film Festival, the French Embassy in Berlin, the office of the Mayor of Paris for culture, and the cabinet of Minister Laurent Fabius on diplomacy. She will be based in Victoria.
