Praslin Hosts Culinary and Arts Festival Celebrating Kreol Heritage and Local Flavours
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Praslin hosted the annual Festival Kiliner ek Lar, one of the key events on the Lazans Kreativ Sesel calendar, with the main event held on Friday evening at Amé on the north-east coast. The opening was attended by numerous guests including diplomats and members of the cultural and hospitality sectors. Among the participating establishments were Constance Lemuria Praslin Seychelles, Les Lauriers Eco Hotel, Castello Beach Hotel and La Voi Del Mare Beach Bar.
Constance Lemuria Praslin Seychelles claimed the top prize in the cocktail competition, with mixologist John Karisa winning with his creation ‘Deep Gentleman’. In the culinary competition, Jean-Yves François came first with his creation ‘Koste Seselwa’, followed by Sandeep Kumar with ‘Island Twist’, both hailing from Constance Lemuria. Organiser Sybille Cardon noted that participants had been encouraged to showcase local ingredients such as local fruits, noting that creativity, presentation and taste were the key judging criteria. The festival also featured a live performance by Taniah, accompanied by Chromatix Band.
Activities continued on Saturday morning at Marie-Jeanne Estate, with stalls offering food, drinks and artisanal products. The event forms part of a broader programme to promote Seychellois culinary heritage and support the creative industries sector.
