EU Launches Major Funding Call for Civil Society in Mauritius and Seychelles
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The European Union (EU) has launched a major funding call for civil society organisations in Mauritius and Seychelles, with a budget of 2,360,000 euros allocated to the call for proposals. The funding aims to support civil society actors working on key development priorities across the two island states.
The call is designed to strengthen the role of civil society organisations in promoting inclusive governance, human rights, gender equality, social inclusion and sustainable development. It will provide grants to non-governmental organisations, community-based groups and other civil society entities carrying out projects in both countries, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable communities.
Eligible activities include capacity building for civil society organisations, awareness-raising campaigns, advocacy initiatives, and projects that promote dialogue between citizens and public institutions. Applicants will be required to demonstrate how their proposed projects will contribute to lasting positive change at the community level. Detailed information on eligibility criteria, application procedures and deadlines has been published on the EU delegation’s official channels. The EU has encouraged interested organisations to submit their applications within the prescribed timeframe, as the call represents a significant opportunity to deepen EU support for civil society in the Indian Ocean region.
