Seychelles Commercial Bank Opens New Main Branch at Avenue Building

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles Commercial Bank (SCB), previously known as Seychelles Savings Bank, has officially inaugurated the new location for its main branch (Victoria branch) at the Avenue building, formerly known as Krisnamart Supermarket. The opening ceremony was held yesterday afternoon, with the new branch having actually started its operation on Monday August 18, 2025.

Speaking at the opening, business operation advisor at SCB Michael Benstrong said the bank had been informed by the landlord of Kingsgate House of the plan to demolish the existing building to make way for a new and modern structure, and the bank therefore had to move. He said the new branch features a bigger banking hall with modernised teller stations and specialised areas for loan consultations and other services, as well as back office space and a large conference room.

Mr Benstrong said the relocation is part of a comprehensive plan to provide efficient services and create a welcoming space for staff and customers, and noted that the change of address also aligns with SCB’s strategic vision, which includes initiatives to further strengthen its digital capabilities. The bank is expected to continue serving its customers from the new Victoria branch without interruption while the Kingsgate House site is redeveloped.
