Discover Airlines to Begin Direct Frankfurt–Seychelles Flights on October 27

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has officially granted regulatory approval to Discover Airlines, marking a major milestone in Seychelles’ air connectivity. The leisure airline, part of the Lufthansa Group, is set to commence scheduled flights from Frankfurt to Seychelles on Monday October 27, 2025, operating twice weekly using an Airbus A330 with a capacity of 310 passengers.

The approval letter was formally handed over by the chief executive of SCAA, Garry Albert, to Discover’s station manager for Nairobi and Seychelles, Dr Adewale Sanny, during a short ceremony held at the SCAA head office at D’Offay Building, Providence. The ceremony was also attended by a few key personnel who had been part of the approval process for Discover. Based in Frankfurt, Discover Airlines connects travellers to over 63 destinations across Europe, North America, Africa and the Caribbean. Its new route to Seychelles expands the airline’s reach into the Indian Ocean region, providing direct access between Europe and Seychelles and bringing economic spillovers to the country.

The airline’s entry was made possible through the updated Air Transport Agreement between the Republic of Seychelles and the Federal Republic of Germany, signed during the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN) in Kuala Lumpur in October 2024. The revised agreement increases the permitted flight frequency between the two countries. Mr Albert said Discover Airlines’ entry into Seychelles highlights the essential role the SCAA plays in promoting air transport development, supported by a well-regulated environment that prioritises safety. Dr Sanny described the approval as the culmination of months of robust engagement with the SCAA, and expressed appreciation for the professionalism and meticulous attention paid by SCAA personnel in undertaking their due diligence towards approval. Discover Airlines’ entry is expected to strengthen Seychelles’ tourism industry and the wider economy, with the route also expected to add further momentum to the country’s post-pandemic recovery.
