Indian High Commissioner Highlights Growth of Seychelles Ties on 79th Independence Day
VICTORIA, Seychelles — On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day of India, the High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, Kartik Pande, has highlighted the steady growth of bilateral relations between the two countries across multiple spheres of cooperation. In an interview, he said formal ties have always been marked by mutual respect and a shared commitment to development.
Mr Pande noted that India and Seychelles continue to work together in key areas, including health, education, capacity building, defence and the blue economy, with a regular exchange of high-level visits helping to deepen cooperation. He added that the Indian community in Seychelles, which has a long history on the islands, also plays an important role in nurturing people-to-people links between the two nations.
The High Commissioner said India remains committed to supporting Seychelles’ development priorities, in line with its wider Indian Ocean neighbourhood-first approach. He also took the opportunity to thank Seychellois friends and partners for their continued goodwill, and reaffirmed India’s readiness to work with the next government following the September 2025 elections.
