Foundation Stones Laid for New Micro Enterprise Building on Praslin
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Foundation stones to mark the beginning of construction of a new micro enterprise building were laid yesterday afternoon in Grand Anse Praslin. The first symbolic foundation stone was laid by President Wavel Ramkalawan, followed by the Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry Devika Vidot, Minister for Internal Affairs Errol Fonseka, elected member of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Praslin district Wavel Woodcock, and Doyace Porice of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa.
President Ramkalawan also unveiled the commemorative plaque, accompanied by Minister Vidot and Mr Woodcock. Among those attending the ceremony were the district administrator for Grand Anse Chantal Laure, liaison officer for Praslin Vincent Cedras and staff of the IEA. President Ramkalawan said it is important that when the government lays the foundation stones, it also sees that these projects continue and materialise. “Many of them were facing challenges with the authorities such as public health and environment, so we saw the importance of such a project.”
For his part, Mr Woodcock said the project is designed in such a way that another floor can be added in the future. “This facility will benefit a lot of artisans and micro enterprises in the district and on Praslin.” The project is expected to benefit at least 15 small businesses, including four in food production, three in tailoring, two artisans, two in sculpture and painting and four others. The contract has been signed and is already in effect, with the timeframe for construction being eight months, completing around March or April next year, said Jitesh Shah of SIA.
