Seychelles National Arts Award Celebrates Wide Range of Talented Artists
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The 2025 Seychelles National Arts Award ceremony, hosted by the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts at the International Conference Centre, celebrated a wide range of talented artists whose work spans visual arts, music, dance, film and traditional crafts. The award recognises individuals who have excelled in their respective fields and contributed to the growth of Seychellois culture.
In his opening remarks, secretary general of the institute, David Andre, said the arts award celebrates the incredible talents and dedication of Seychellois artists and honours their achievements. “Without arts, we would be a nation without a soul. Seychellois artists are storytellers, visionaries and innovators. Their works reach beyond entertainment; they reflect who we are and more importantly who we aspire to become. Whether through music, painting, poetry, film, fashion or performance, our creative voices are shaping how we are perceived on the global stage,” he stated.
The one-and-a-half-hour ceremony featured various performances showcasing the diversity of Seychellois artistic expression. President Wavel Ramkalawan, First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, Vice-President Ahmed Afif and other dignitaries were present to honour the artists and reaffirm the government’s commitment to supporting the creative sector.
