Seychelles’ Biennale des Danses Showcases Cultures and Styles From Around the World

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A group of dancers and choreographers from Seychelles, the Russian Federation, Cuba, Mauritius and the Island of Rodrigues are participating in this year’s 11th Biennale des Danses, an international dance festival held in Victoria. The biennale serves as a platform where tradition meets innovation, with each step telling a story that transcends borders.
In his opening remarks, chief executive of the National Arts and Craft Council Jimmy Savy expressed gratitude to the participants and partners for their continued support of the event, which has grown over the years into one of the most important cultural events on the Seychellois calendar. He noted that the diversity of the participating countries reflects the unifying power of dance as a form of expression.
The festival features performances, workshops and master classes aimed at fostering cultural exchange and developing local talent. Organisers said the biennale also provides an opportunity for Seychellois dancers and choreographers to engage with their international counterparts, learn new techniques, and showcase the unique cultural identity of Seychelles on an international stage.
