President Ramkalawan Addresses First LDS Rally Since Party Convention

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Presidential candidate Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday addressed the first major rally of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) party since its convention, held at Grand Anse Mahé. The rally brought together a large number of supporters who listened as Mr Ramkalawan, the party’s presidential candidate, set out the party’s vision for the next mandate.
Speaking for more than 25 minutes, Mr Ramkalawan emphasised the importance of continuity in government, noting that since LDS was elected in 2020, the country has made progress thanks to serious and credible leaders who put the well-being of the people first. ‘When it came to taking decisions, we took them. We did not fight for the presidency of this or that, we took the right decisions and through them we are able to move our country forward,’ he said.
Mr Ramkalawan also took aim at his main rival, Dr Patrick Herminie of the United Seychelles party, accusing him of making promises that have not been realised, including on pension reviews for the elderly, free bus services and a reduction in the cost of living. He also highlighted the values of respect and morality that he said LDS has brought to the country under its slogan, ‘Seychelles for all its children’.
