National Assembly Approves Motion on Nisa Lease Agreement
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The National Assembly yesterday approved a motion presented by Hon. Gervais Henrie, Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) member for Mont Buxton, calling on the board and management of the National Information Services Agency (Nisa) to end its business relationship with the United Seychelles (US) party concerning the Bois de Rose property currently rented by Nisa.
The property, which houses Nisa’s print house, is being leased from the government by Sun Press Printing Ltd, a company that Hon. Henrie said is directly linked to the United Seychelles party, formerly known as Parti Lepep. He raised serious concerns about the ethical, legal and financial implications of the arrangement, urging the Assembly to demand transparency and accountability in the use of public assets.
The motion is expected to be forwarded to the relevant authorities for action. Nisa’s management has not yet publicly responded to the Assembly’s decision, but the issue is likely to generate further debate in the coming weeks as Seychelles prepares for general elections in September.
