Rwanda High Commissioner-Designate and Thailand Ambassador-Designate Meet Radegonde
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The High Commissioner-Designate of the Republic of Rwanda, General Patrick Nyamvumba, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Monday. Discussions between the two diplomats focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Seychelles and Rwanda.
The two expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the five memoranda of understanding and one agreement, and the establishment of diplomatic ties, which officially began on October 13, 2025. General Nyamvumba also took the opportunity to thank the government of Seychelles for its support regarding candidatures to international organisations.
The possibility of appointing a Thai Honorary Consul in Seychelles was also broached by the Ambassador-Designate of Thailand, Ms Janemathukorn, who suggested collaboration in two specific fields: community-based tourism, and wellness and medical tourism, a sector in which Thailand excels. Ms Janemathukorn expressed her eagerness to connect Seychellois and Thai investors, which would in turn boost trade between the two countries. Minister Radegonde expressed his gratitude for Thailand’s more lenient stance on visas for Seychellois nationals but also conveyed his hopes for further easing of travel restrictions.
