Lucky Dube Tribute Show Donates Proceeds to New Hospital Fund

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The committee behind a recent Lucky Dube tribute show has donated the proceeds to the New Hospital Fund, contributing to the national effort to fund the construction of a new hospital facility in Seychelles. Members of the committee visited the hospital and saw firsthand the state of the existing facility, which prompted them to channel the proceeds to the fund as a gesture of support for the people of Seychelles.
The committee also shared that the Ministry of Agriculture has expressed its support for the fund. The donation reflects the wider community’s recognition that the existing hospital infrastructure is no longer fit for purpose and that a new facility is urgently required. The Lucky Dube tribute show, which featured local musicians performing songs by the late South African reggae icon, brought together members of the public and the local music community for a memorable evening.
According to the committee, the event was organised not only to celebrate the legacy of Lucky Dube, whose music continues to inspire many in Seychelles and across Africa, but also to contribute to a cause that benefits the entire population. ‘We visited the hospital and have seen the state it is in, and on behalf of the people of Seychelles, I urge other organisations and individuals to also support the fund,’ said a committee spokesperson. The committee also noted that they are already thinking of their next musical project, in line with their aim of combining entertainment with community service.
