Minister Derjacques Outlines Maritime Safety and Climate Agenda in Ministerial Address
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Minister for Transport, Antony Derjacques, has addressed key national priorities in a ministerial session focused on maritime safety and climate challenges, highlighting Seychelles’ ongoing efforts to align transport policy with international standards. The session, attended by officials from the maritime sector, brought together stakeholders from across government and the industry.
During one of the sessions, Minister Derjacques engaged with the executive of the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority, including Chief Executive Captain Daniel Adam, on the country’s transition towards greener shipping, ensuring a just and equitable trajectory for the sector. Discussions also covered the Authority’s technical operations, fleet management and the impact of global trade tensions on national logistics.
The minister emphasised the importance of continued investment in maritime infrastructure, training and surveillance capability to safeguard the country’s waters. Seychelles, he noted, is committed to working with international partners to ensure that climate change and global trade shifts are met with a forward-looking national strategy that protects both the economy and the marine environment.
