TGMI Shares Pathway to ACCA with SBSA Students

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Guy Morel Institute yesterday held an insightful session with students from the Seychelles Business Studies Academy, aimed at sharing key information on the progression opportunities available through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants pathway. The discussion was supported by staff from both The Guy Morel Institute (TGMI) and the Seychelles Business Studies Academy (SBSA), as well as representatives from the career progression and further studies division — all coming together to encourage and guide the next generation of accounting professionals.

The session forms part of an ongoing partnership between TGMI and SBSA to expose students to the various professional certifications and career pathways available in the accounting and finance sector. Speakers provided detailed information on the structure of the ACCA qualification, the entry requirements, the exemptions available to SBSA graduates, and the typical timeline for completion. The session also addressed questions on the demand for qualified accountants in Seychelles and the wider region, as well as the support mechanisms available to students pursuing the qualification.

TGMI officials emphasised that the initiative is part of a broader national effort to strengthen the local pipeline of accounting and finance professionals, a sector that has long been identified as critical to economic development. The institute has been working with international accreditation bodies to ensure that Seychellois students can access globally recognised qualifications without having to leave the country. The collaboration with SBSA is expected to continue with regular information sessions, mock examinations and mentorship opportunities for students aspiring to join the profession.
