UAE Proposes Frontliner Service Centre to Transform Seychelles Government Services
VICTORIA, Seychelles, The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has proposed that Seychelles establish a dedicated frontliner service centre designed to deliver government services to citizens more quickly and efficiently. The proposal was unveiled by the Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange of the UAE, Abdulla Nasser Lootah, during his official visit to Seychelles yesterday. The visit marks a new step in the cooperation between the two countries on public sector modernisation.
Speaking to the local media, Deputy Minister Lootah said the initiative is part of the UAE Government Experience Exchange Programme, which aims to share best practices in service delivery with partner countries. The proposed frontliner service centre would consolidate access to government services in a single location, reducing the time and procedural steps required for citizens to obtain the documents and approvals they need. Officials from both sides attended the presentation held in Victoria.
Deputy Minister Lootah set out the guiding principle of the initiative in simple terms. What do citizens want? They want great services, in the least time possible, with the least procedures, at the least cost possible. These are the three minimum expectations. This is what we are trying to do, he said, framing the proposal around the experience the UAE has built through its own service transformation efforts.
The Seychelles government has welcomed the proposal and indicated that it will be studied in detail by the relevant ministries. Officials noted that the frontliner concept aligns with ongoing public sector reforms aimed at improving the citizen experience and reducing bureaucracy. Further discussions are expected to take place between the two governments on how the proposal can be adapted to the local context.
The visit by Deputy Minister Lootah is part of a wider programme of cooperation between Seychelles and the UAE on governance and public administration. Both sides have expressed interest in expanding the exchange of expertise in areas such as digital government, customer service standards, and performance management. A formal agreement on the frontliner initiative could be considered during a future high-level visit.
