Government Cracks Down on Undisclosed Beneficial Interests in R500 Million Procurement

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The government has moved to tighten oversight of procurement processes after a review revealed concerns about beneficial interests in companies bidding for a procurement valued at R500 million. An official announcement is to be aired on SBC to inform the public, businesses, and partners of the new measures and of the standards now being applied.

Officials said the proposal had received Cabinet approval and that the new measures are aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and value for money in public procurement. The government is also expected to clarify the consequences for business owners who fail to disclose beneficial interests in their bids.

The reforms are part of a wider push by the administration to improve governance, reduce the risk of conflicts of interest, and rebuild public trust in the awarding of government contracts. Authorities noted that the procurement standards must align with the country’s commitments to international best practice.
