Seychelles Pays Tribute to Former MNA Charles de Commarmond
VICTORIA, Seychelles — State House has received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of Hon. Charles de Commarmond, a distinguished former member of the National Assembly, who passed away in the early hours of Saturday December 20. He was 66 years old.
Born on April 4, 1959, Mr de Commarmond served the people of Seychelles with distinction over a career spanning several decades. He was a member of the National Assembly during the one-party state era from 1983 to 1987, again from 1991 to part of 1993, and from the inauguration of the Third Republic in 1993 until his retirement in 2020. As the elected representative for Cascade, he was renowned for his significant achievements, particularly in advancing infrastructure development within his district.
‘I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hon. Charles de Commarmond,’ President Patrick Herminie stated, describing him as a respected colleague and a dear friend. His wife, Selma de Commarmond, recalled his passion, his resilience, and his unwavering commitment to society, noting that politics was a calling for him, not simply a career.
