Ten-Member Task Force to Clear Backlog of Expatriate Employment Contracts
VICTORIA, Seychelles — A ten-member task force from the Labour Migration section of the Ministry of Employment and Human Resource Planning has been established to tackle a backlog of 12,313 attestations of expatriate employment contracts and 457 pending applications for the employment of non-Seychellois.
The announcement was made by Minister Idith Alexander during a press conference at Independence House yesterday afternoon, alongside the principal secretary for Employment and Human Resource Planning, Susan Morel, and the principal secretary for Labour Relations and Regulations, Steve Monnaie.
Minister Alexander said the backlog had built up over several years and that the new unit had been given a clear mandate to review, verify, and clear pending files in a structured manner, while ensuring that all approvals remain consistent with the country’s labour laws and immigration policy.
Officials added that the task force will work closely with employers to address outstanding documentation requirements and to provide clarity on the process, with a focus on reducing waiting times and improving service delivery to the private sector.
