NISA Holds First Bal Kreol as 50th Anniversary Fund-Raiser

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The National Information Services Agency held its first Bal Kreol on Friday evening at the Seafront restaurant, declaring the event a great success. The ball is among a series of activities the agency has planned to raise funds in preparation for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the newspaper in the coming year.

The activity began at around 8.10pm. Guests were welcomed at the door by NISA staff and had the opportunity to take a souvenir photo before being directed to the main hall, where two local bands – Reloaded and Elements – kept the audience on its feet with a selection of songs entirely in Kreol. As the night went on, the sound of dancers already in the mood could be heard singing along at the top of their voices.

Throughout the evening, there was also the sale of Creole food and a small bar serving drinks. The agency said the event was the first in a series of fund-raising activities planned to mark the upcoming 50th anniversary milestone. NISA thanked the public, the artists, the sponsors, and the team of volunteers who made the evening possible, and said further activities will be announced in due course as preparations continue for the anniversary celebrations.
