Herminie Vows First 100 Days Reform Push for United Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — United Seychelles presidential candidate Dr Patrick Herminie has pledged to push for major institutional reforms during his first 100 days in office, including changes to the National Assembly’s composition to give smaller parties and independent candidates a stronger voice.
Speaking in a special runoff interview, Dr Herminie thanked the voters who chose US in the first round, noting that the party has grown from 43.5 percent in 2020 to 48.8 percent in 2025. He attributed the increase to public disappointment in the incumbent administration’s implementation of its 2020 promises. ‘Many promises were made in 2020 by Linyon Demokratik Seselwa. The 2025 results is a concrete indication that voters are disappointed in the executive and implementation of the supposed change that they were promised,’ he said.
On the more than 40,000 registered voters who did not vote in the first round, Dr Herminie urged them to participate in the runoff. ‘Seychelles is at a turning point. The decision you make now will shape our children’s tomorrow. Go out and vote — make history once again and participate in the change this country so badly needs,’ he said.
He also used the interview to outline his party’s broader vision. A vote for US, he said, is a vote for progress, equity and people-centred development. He promised to push for changes that would make it easier for smaller parties and independents to have representation in the National Assembly, based on the results of the September 27 parliamentary elections.
